Your data, handled with care.
Data controller
The data controller is the publisher of the site, Kernel Lab, who can be reached at contact@kernel-lab.dev.
Data collected and purposes
- Contact form: name, email, phone number and company if provided, type of project and message. They are used to answer your request and, where appropriate, to prepare a proposal (pre-contractual measures taken at your request).
- Newsletter: your email address, the language of the page, and the date and IP address of your subscription. They are used only to send you our letter, with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the unsubscribe link in every letter.
- Site assistant: the messages exchanged, their date, the IP address of the connection and two random identifiers kept in your browser (one for the current conversation, the other to link your conversations together). They are used to answer your questions, improve the assistant and prevent abuse (legitimate interest).
- Audience measurement: aggregated visitor statistics, from a self-hosted tool, without cookies and without any personal identifier (legitimate interest).
- Security: the form is protected against robots by Cloudflare Turnstile, and connections to the site may be limited by IP address in the event of abuse (legitimate interest).
This data is neither sold nor used for advertising. If you speak to the assistant through the microphone, your voice is transcribed into text by your browser (Google’s or Apple’s speech recognition service). The site only receives and keeps the text.
Recipients
Your data is accessible only to the studio and to the technical service providers that need it to operate:
- OVHcloud, host of the site and its data, in France.
- Telegram, the messaging service through which contact form messages are passed on to the studio.
- The artificial intelligence provider that produces the assistant’s answers, chosen by the studio from providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Mistral AI or Ollama, which receives the messages solely to process them.
- Cloudflare, for the anti-robot check of the forms (contact and newsletter).
- Google, if Google Tag Manager is active on the site: it is loaded with consent refused by default, so without Google cookies, but your browser then contacts Google’s servers.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union, in particular in the United States. These transfers are covered by the safeguards provided for by the GDPR: an adequacy decision of the European Commission or standard contractual clauses.
Retention period
- Conversations with the assistant are kept for 6 months, then deleted automatically.
- Contact form messages are kept for as long as it takes to handle your request, then for no more than three years after the last exchange.
- Newsletter subscribers’ addresses are kept for as long as you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, the address is kept for no more than three years, so that we no longer write to you, then deleted.
- The security log of the administration area is kept for one year.
Cookies and local storage
The site sets no advertising cookies, and audience measurement works without cookies. Your browser keeps in its local storage your display and sound preferences, the history of your conversation with the assistant and the identifiers described above. You can delete them at any time from your browser settings, or start a new conversation from the assistant.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your data. To exercise these rights, write to contact@kernel-lab.dev. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
